LOVEBIRD STUDIOS Limited TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Effective Date: 23 February 2026
These Terms and Conditions govern the use of services provided by Lovebird Studios Ltd (“the Company”, “we”, “us”) at our studio located at Pigdown Plantation, Hever, TN8 7LX (“the Studio”).
By booking, attending, purchasing, or using any of our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. DEFINITIONS
Member – An individual accepted into Studio Membership.
Membership – A rolling subscription granting access to the Studio.
Student – A person enrolled in a Course or Workshop.
Course – A scheduled taught class or series of classes.
Drop-In Session (Clay Club) – A single 4-hour paid studio access session.
Session – A 4-hour period of studio access.
Week – Monday 00:01 to Sunday 23:59.
Notice Period – One calendar month unless otherwise stated.
2. GENERAL TERMS
These Terms apply to all Members, Students, Drop-In participants and visitors.
The Company may amend these Terms at any time. The latest version will be available on our website. Continued use of the Studio constitutes acceptance of any updates.
The Company reserves the right to refuse service where appropriate.
3. MEMBERSHIP
3.1 Eligibility
Membership is available to individuals aged 18 and over.
Membership begins once registration is completed and an induction session has been attended.
3.2 Fees
£110 per month.
Minimum commitment: 2 months.
Thereafter membership continues on a rolling basis.
Payment is collected via Direct Debit.
30 days’ written notice is required to cancel after the minimum period.
3.3 Fee Changes
We reserve the right to increase membership fees with a minimum of 10 working days’ notice.
3.4 Membership Benefits
Membership includes:
- Access to shared studio workspace for up to 3 sessions per week.
- Personal storage space.
- Use of house glazes.
- On-site technical support.
- Opportunities to exhibit or sell work at studio events.
Unused sessions do not roll over.
4. CLAY CLUB DROP-IN SESSIONS
4.1 Pricing
Drop-In sessions are charged at £40 per 4-hour session.
Payment is required at the time of booking.
4.2 Eligibility
Drop-In sessions are intended for individuals with sufficient experience to work independently.
The Company reserves the right to refuse booking where a participant requires additional supervision beyond what is available during open sessions.
4.3 Booking
Sessions must be booked at least 1 hour prior to start time.
Sessions are subject to availability and capacity limits.
4.4 Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance.
Sessions cancelled with sufficient notice may be transferred within the same calendar week only.
No refunds or transfers are available for late cancellations or non-attendance.
Unused sessions cannot be carried forward.
4.5 Studio Use
Drop-In participants:
- Do not receive personal storage space.
- Must remove tools and belongings at the end of the session.
- Must label any work left for drying or firing clearly.
- Must follow all studio rules and cleaning procedures.
The Company reserves the right to decline future Drop-In bookings where policies are not followed.
5. COURSES
Course fees must be paid in full prior to commencement.
Payment for firing fee must be completed before collection.
No refunds are offered for non-attendance.
Places may be transferred to another individual.
If a session cannot be delivered, a substitute session or refund will be arranged.
6. MATERIALS AND FIRING
6.1 Clay
Clay is provided by the Studio.
Stoneware: £1 per 100g
White stoneware: £1.05 per 100g
Guest Clay: £1.30 per 100g
Work must be weighed at leatherhard stage and recorded in the studio logbook.
Members are billed monthly.
Drop-In participants pay at the end of their session.
Course participants pay before collection.
External materials require prior approval.
6.2 Glazes and Kilns
Members and participants may use the Studio’s 8 house glazes.
Self-made glazes require approval and may require test firing.
Only authorised staff may operate kilns.
Participants must not touch kiln equipment at any time.
Participants may be liable for damage caused by inappropriate materials or preparation.
Due to the nature of ceramics, breakage and firing failures may occur. The Company cannot guarantee successful firing outcomes.
Food Safety and Glaze Disclaimer
Lovebird Studios does not guarantee that any glaze provided or used within the Studio is food-safe or suitable for functional food use.
Participants are solely responsible for determining whether their finished pieces are appropriate for food or drink use.
Glaze application, firing conditions, thickness, clay body, and user technique can all affect glaze performance and safety. For this reason, the Company does not provide certification, testing, or confirmation that any finished item is food-safe.
All functional use of finished ceramic pieces is undertaken at the participant’s own risk.
7. STUDIO CLOSURES
The Studio will close:
- For 3–4 days during bi-annual shows.
- During August.
- For approximately 4–6 days between 23 December and 2 January.
We may close for maintenance, repairs, events or circumstances beyond our control.
Membership fees continue during closure periods unless otherwise stated.
8. USE OF FACILITIES
Sessions are fixed 4-hour periods.
Guests may visit briefly (maximum 10 minutes) with prior approval but may not use equipment.
All users must clean their workspace thoroughly before leaving.
Failure to maintain studio standards may result in a 20% surcharge or suspension of access.
Damage to another person’s work may result in replacement costs.
9. HEALTH AND SAFETY
All Members must complete an induction.
Users must follow all safety guidance.
The Company may suspend or terminate access for unsafe behaviour.
The Company is not responsible for injury caused by misuse of equipment.
10. SAFEGUARDING AND MINORS
General membership sessions are restricted to individuals aged 18+.
Minors may attend only designated supervised sessions (e.g., children’s workshops or parties).
Parents or guardians remain responsible for minors unless the session is a structured supervised activity.
Minors must not access restricted areas (including kiln areas) without supervision.
The Company reserves the right to remove any individual where safeguarding concerns arise.
11. CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
Courses
More than 14 days’ notice: full refund minus £15 administration fee.
Less than 14 days: non-refundable.
Gift Vouchers
Refunds incur a £25 administration fee.
12. TERMINATION
Members may cancel:
Within 14 days of joining, provided the Studio has not been used.
After the minimum term, with 30 days’ written notice.
The Company may terminate membership for misconduct, safety breaches, or non-payment.
No refunds will be issued in such cases.
13. PHOTOGRAPHY AND MEDIA
The Company may photograph or record sessions for promotional purposes.
Participants may opt out by informing staff.
Parental consent is required for use of images involving minors.
14. LIABILITY
The Company will take reasonable care in operating the Studio but accepts no liability for:
- Loss or damage to personal property.
- Technical failure inherent in ceramics processes.
- Breakage during firing.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where it cannot legally be excluded.
