throwing for improvers course

join us for an immersive 6-week pottery course set in the serene kentish countryside. go back to basics and build on your wheel-throwing fundamentals in small groups of up to 6, with plenty of personalised instruction.

course overview

  • duration: 6 weeks
  • session length: 2 hours 30 minutes per week (including 15 minutes for cleaning)

you’ll cover basic throwing techniques, pulling, turning and trimming, surface textures and decorative methods using the wheel, and progress to larger forms and increased clay weights across the six weeks.

clay information

  • clay types: stoneware studio clay and white stoneware
  • lovebird studios provides clay as part of all courses, charged at £1 per 100g for stoneware and £1.05 per 100g for white stoneware, based on weight before bisque firing
  • please do not bring in external materials without consulting staff prior to the session
